The Demise of 50 Shades

If you love interiors then you will know that 50 shades of Grey (paint wise nothing to do with Christian.......) has had us covering up those magnolia shaded walls with avengence over the last few seasons. Well its time for a new wave of interior decorating, a change that welcomes a total flip of the paint chart as we say goodbye all those pale neutral shades.

The latest interior look, according to Ben Spriggs in this months Elle decor is the "Happy design" we can now look forward to lots of colour, patterns and texture that bring out those happy vibes from within.( and we all strive to find that happy vibe) "That's Bold I hear you cry", and you will be right! but stop! take a good hard look because this definitely makes you happy and warm inside, its quite an easy look to accomplish you just pick a wonderful palette of your favorite shades and go for it.

The colours are not gaudy, there is definitely a softness to them like the icing on a cupcake, but and its a big but,,,,,,,, here it comes..... we are so afraid of colours, we back away from colour like it's a big bad wolf. Our fear of getting it wrong and ending up with a disaster on our hands is the reason that so many of us go for that colourless choice, we fear that we may end up with a room that looks like a unicorn party on a bad day:(

But fear not, help is at hand, of course hiring an Interior Designer to hold you hand through this big change in Interiors is the best way forward, but there are other ways to add pops of colour. As this season cooles, we will see more of this trend emerging from Peter Pilotto's wonderful coloured interior, shown in the pictures. Matthew Williamson give us a taste of the new bold with his rainforest look of Palms, leaves and birds of paradise. we now have soft but bold shades of peaches, pinks and burnt sienna

that sit next to blues, greens and lavender. How will you ride this latest trend, how much colour will you add to your interiors, painting one wall in this new shade, adding key pieces like rugs, lampshades and cushions will bring your interiors inline with this new colour palette ,,, go for it,, find your Happy Place!.
